Notoginsenoside R1 (NGR1) is a novel saponin isolated from P. notoginseng. Notoginsenoside R1 possesses antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-angiogenic, and anti-apoptosis activities. Notoginsenoside R1 provides cardioprotection effects against I/R injuries. Notoginsenoside R1 can reduce reactive oxygen species and confer some neuroprotective effects.
